In Austria, value-added/premium-rate telephone services (Mehrwertdienste — prefixes including 0900, 0901, 0930, 0931, 0939, plus 0810/0820/0821 and 118) are regulated under the Kommunikationsparameter-, Entgelt- und Mehrwertdiensteverordnung 2009 (KEM-V 2009, issued by RTR-GmbH on the legal basis of §§ 24 and 112 TKG 2021), with the Telekom-Control-Kommission overseeing the telecommunications market and RTR serving as its office. The official source publishes per-prefix maximum tariffs (e.g. 0900: up to €3.64 per minute or €10.00 per event; 0901: up to €9.00 per event), an announcement of the price at the start of a call to expensive premium numbers, and a tariff-display obligation in advertising for the number. Operators must also provide a free block ('Sperre für Mehrwertdienste') on request for services over €0.20 per minute/event, premium numbers may not be used as the displayed calling number, and calls are auto-disconnected (after 30 minutes for calls over €2.20/min, otherwise 60 minutes, capped at €132 per call).
