Regulation note

EETT (the Hellenic Telecommunications and Post Commission), Greece's national regulator for electronic communications, governs premium-rate services — which it calls Multimedia Information Services (MIS) — through a Code of Conduct; providers must hold a General Authorisation and obtain numbers from the National Numbering Plan, with premium ranges including voice prefixes such as 901, 909, 806, 190–195 and 14, and 5-digit premium-SMS ranges such as 190XX–196XX, 198XX and 54XXX. EETT requires tariff transparency — advertisements and the service description must state the charge per message/call and the total maximum cost (VAT included) — and consumers can ask their operator to bar access to all premium-rate services or specific number series. As consumer safeguards, connections are automatically terminated after 20 minutes, the provider must obtain renewed SMS consent once a service's monthly cost exceeds 20 euro (plus VAT), and adult-only services must warn that they are restricted to users aged 18 or over; EETT notes that companies set their own prices and that it does not fix tariffs. General information, not legal advice — verify current rules with EETT.
