Hungary's National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH) regulates electronic communications and telephone numbering, including premium-rate ("emelt díjas") services, which use numbers beginning with the 90 and 91 prefixes and five- to six-digit numbers starting with 16. For price-capped ("díjkorlátos") premium-rate services, NMHH states the maximum charge payable by the caller is HUF 1,000 gross. Every communications provider is legally obliged to maintain an authentic, up-to-date public list of its premium-rate phone and SMS services, and received premium-rate SMS is blocked by default unless the customer requests activation.
