Regulation note

In Switzerland, value-added (premium-rate) telephone services on 0900, 0901 and 0906 numbers are regulated by the Federal Office of Communications (OFCOM/BAKOM), which allocates these numbers individually; holders offer a service paid by the caller via a surcharge on the connection charge. Whenever such a number is communicated verbally or in writing, the charge per minute and/or per call must always be stated, and OFCOM can withdraw the number if the price is not indicated or is indicated incorrectly. OFCOM's published conditions of use set a free-of-charge cost announcement for calls above CHF 2 per minute or per call, a caller confirmation by special signal above CHF 5 per minute or CHF 10 per call, and legal price ceilings of CHF 100 for basic/fixed charges, CHF 10 per minute, and CHF 400 for all charges relating to a connection. General information, not legal advice — verify current rules with OFCOM (BAKOM).
